Online therapy is convenient and easily accessible, plus it tends to be less disruptive to daily life and routines.
Usually and iPad or tablet works best with a reliable internet connection (we can check for any issues during the assessment). It's useful to have Play-doh, colouring pens and paper to hand during the sessions. It is also important that you have a quiet room, free from interruptions, so that they child is comfortable with being able to maintain confidentiality. For younger children, using play therapy (CPRT, as described below) you will be emailed a list of inexpensive toys that will be needed for the sessions.
For younger clients (usually under 8s) using Child/Parent Relationship Therapy (CPRT) online has proven hugely successful, with parents reporting improved connections with their children and learning skills that they wouldn't otherwise have been exposed to. The process of this model teaches parents basic play therapy skills to practise with their children for 30 minutes a week. You will video the sessions and upload them to the therapist, who will review the session with you via Zoom.
Zoom is GDPR compliant and the therapist's commitment to confidentiality is the same as face-to-face. So everything you tell me online is 100 % confidential (there are exceptions regarding harm to self and others, and safeguarding issues, but this is discussed during the initial assessment and first session).
Cancellations made within 48 hours of the appointment will not be charged but “no shows” and cancellations with less than 48 hours notice will be charged for in full. If you need to cancel your appointment please call (or text) 07535 673665
